How does WordDive work?
With WordDive, you’ll learn by reading, writing, listening and speaking. The learning algorithm optimises the pace of the exercises individually so that the study items are transferred from working memory to long-term memory. This is what we call permanent learning.
Permanent learning means that you’ll learn vocabulary and the most important grammar topics by heart. It requires you to write what you’re learning correctly, without listening, on at least two separate days. Once you’ve learned the basics of the language permanently, your confidence in using it increases and your language skills start improving rapidly.
The learning material is divided into skill levels and courses of approximately 40–60 study items. Following the clear and ready-made learning path is easy. You don’t have to worry about planning your studies – you can just enjoy learning.
By real life language skills, we mean understanding the language you’re studying and being able to have spontaneous conversations with native speakers. With WordDive, you’ll reach a sufficient level of proficiency and learn things you need on the road, at work and in other practical situations!
Who is WordDive for?
WordDive is great for motivated adults who have full calendars and can’t always get to a specific classroom at a specific time. Everyone can choose a starting level that suits them and practice anywhere.
Whether you want to learn the basics of Spanish for your holiday or hone your English skills for work, WordDive is the right choice.

This is the first, and only, app I have found to learn Finnish through. Even better, it's actually a decent app! The exercises are consistent, I getting good repetition, and I can practice my speaking, listening, and reading. I'm only a couple "units" in, but so far I am loving it. I feel like I am really learning! Edit: adding some feedback.. I'd really like to be able to "jump around" on lessons I have already completed. I took a break and want to refresh, but I can't go back in the lessons!

I love that my feedback to this company is actually heard and taken into account (unlike another that shall not be named)! I love what they've done lately with adding grammar tips - wonderful! The only thing that might be improved upon is that they do hold you back a little bit, I suppose so that you don't go through the material too fast. But really, shouldn't that be left up to the user? I don't need a nanny! But other than that, I'm really happy with this app!

First of all, the app is really good. It's not really a 3 star app, minimum 4 star and probably close to 5 star for language learning apps. However, I am super frustrated with the daily limits the app put on the learner. After about 15-20 mins (some days only after 5-10 mins) of learning the app will not let you move any more forward. While I'm paying a very high premium fee as a monthly subscription, this is totally uncalled for. Any fix for removing this daily cap of lessons?

Bought the subscription but was disappointed. I kept getting stuck on completely irrelevant words, such as твёрдый знак (the name of letter Ъ). As a complete beginner, I obviously didn't find it relevant to learn how to write твёрдый знак, which made the app force me to practice it over and over again 🤯 Furthermore, the animations and sounds are slow and annoying. It's like they tried to copy Duolingo's gameified feel, but with zero budget 🥲

If you don't pay for a subscription, you can only test how the app works, not learn much of a language. (You get one free study module, the rest is locked.) The way the app tests your active skills is limited. You are only asked to type singular words (with a limited set of letters given), the rest is mostly 'put the given words in the right order'. Also, the translations of especially sentences can be quite free (not literal). Maybe good to pair with some other learning tool, like flash cards?

This is suprisingly good method of language building. I use the Finnish app. I spoke Finnish as a child and I am re learning the language in my early 50s, and this fits in easily with a busy life. With headphones, I can slot in numerous short bursts of language training in a day. If you are quite good at spotting patterns, this really is for you. It isn't perfect though. Some programming is daft. I must have typed the words ostoskeskus and Kahvinkeittimen dozens of times.

In principle not a bad app and a fun way to get some sort of feeling with Finnish. However, the explanation of word composition and the differentiation between verb and noun is missing. For learning a language this is for me a major downside. It also causes you to make unnecessary errors in the app, as you're not only learning the words, but also have to play a guessing game as for whether the app wants to hear the noun or the verb.

Bought a year's subscription last year and really enjoyed using this app. Have recently renewed but am frustrated now that when I try and go back to previous lessons to consolidate, it will not let me. Surely if you have paid for the course you should be able to study what you like, when you like from the available material. Everyone learns in a different way so let us choose! Apart from that, the addition of Finnish grammar is very helpful and overall a great way to learn a new language.
