This apps will suite with JLPT N4, N3 level.This app lets you read and listen to daily news in a very simple Japanese.
It also show the reading (furigana) of Kanji as well as contains a list of new words with meanings in each news, or it will link to multiple dictionaries like English, Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
It now includes the movies which come along with the news.
With this app you can adjust font size for reading and setting to automatically play next/previous news when finish listening to once.

Disappointed that the audio will not play back as this is the feature I need the most. I thought it was because I was using the free version, so I subscribed, and, nope, totally unresponsive! Edit: researching shows that the audio playback now just doesn't work on Android 10 and 11. Subscription canceled.

The app is very useful. It helps me very much in developing my japanese. However, there are some moments which cannot be unnoticable. 1) It is impossible to read favourite news offline. I know that the feature of downloading news is possible in fee-charging subscription, but anyway... 2) In the app there are some bugs: it cannot be read sometime (bold type of read news does not disappear after you read the news). And one more thing: can you add dark mode, please?)))

Good app, and one I paid for by the way, but it hasn't been updated in a while. On Android 10 and 11, the audio playback doesn't work anymore. After some experimentation, I discovered that the breakage is due to the "unlocker app" that gets downloaded when you subscribe to the paid version. If you delete the unlocker, audio works again. So I guess the bottom like is that you should continue to use the free version.

Excellent way to work on oral comprehension, reading fluency, and vocab building. UPDATE: 2/25 Unfortunately the app stopped playing audio on my phone a few days ago. I still can play and hear audio from the embedded standard-level news videos, bit no response to the play audip button at bottom of screen. Hope this can be fixed soon. UPDATE-2: 2/27 Seems to be fixed now.

This app is great for expanding from intermediate japanese! New kanji that are introduced have linked translations, there is an option to show furigana for those rusty on kanji and am option to hide it for those that don't need the crutch. There is audio playback of the articles which is super useful for those that can't be looking at the screen! I opted for the monthly subscription to avoid the ads since the fee was super cheap and it's less discouraging to keep using the app without ads.

latest update has removed the toggle and it keeps crashing, losing settings and not working. previous version was great and didnt need updating, roll back! i bought full version for furagana on/off function ...developers u know what would be great? A toggle button for this function or maybe a touch on kanji and furagana appears function ...first option may be a quick fix and would really improve usuability

Downloaded this and really was excited. I even signed up for the 7 day free trial with hopes of paying for ad free content. The problem isn't the small ad bar on the app it's the horrible dictionary website that the app uses that is littered with ads. Not even reasonable ones, they're sexual, some are just rotten teeth and warts... yeah this is totally an app I can use in the train to read the news every morning. Uninstalled and unsubscribed immediately.

Try a much better TangoRisto... you will love it. Worst app you could ever have. Even at good network, the download and play of articles are full of bugs. I wander how do they test their app. I played one and it works well, after downloading some news, it doesnt play anymore. Some doesnt load the some doesnt play and some are blanks. Never buy just use trial. It does not worth a penny.
