Aurora Alerts is an app designed to monitor real-time auroral activity and push alert to let you know if there may be aurora borealis (northern lights) visible tonight. Whenever you are home or away, Aurora Alerts will notify you if the possibility of seeing the northern lights exists.

Main features:
- short-term aurora forecast for next hour with weather conditions and moon Illumination
- long-term aurora forecast for the next 3 days with weather conditions
- long-term northern lights forecast for the next 27 days
- show probability to see Northern Lights based on your or custom location
- current auroral activity (based on observed and predicted Kp Indices from U.S. Air Force Weather Agency)
- weather forecast to check visibility conditions before planning to see northern lights
- solar wind data directly from the NASA satellite (wind speed, Bz, Bt and density)
- unlike many other apps, it uses the local time instead of UTC

I've been having the app for about a month, and today, I finally made purchases for everything, alerts, long forecasts, and everything from there. Nothing shows for me anymore. After a couple of hours, I finally uninstall and reinstall restart my device. I've only got the alerts page to show for me. Seems like when I made the purchases on this app today. Everything just went downhill from there. And there's no customer service number or anything to reach out to figure out how to fix this.

I really like this app and how easy it is to read and it's very informative. HOWEVER, the reason for only a 3 star rating is because of the pricing for alerts; $1.99 each (there's 3), but you can get ALL the alerts for a "big discount" of $5.99 - $.02 MORE than buying them individually; WHERE'S THE BIG DISCOUNT!? Either this was a mistake or the developer is trying to scam people; hopefully it's the former. Other than that, a beautiful app.! 👍

The info the app displays is actually pretty helpful. But DO NOT BUY the paid alerts, they simply do not work. I bought the Local Aurora Alert and set it to 10% overhead. Last night it got up to 88% overhead but the app never alerted me, so I missed seeing it! All of the app settings and notifications seem to be set up, yet I've never once received any push notification.

The data headings on the graph page beneath the oval image are way too tiny to read so the graphs and data provided are useless. No ability to enlarge this screen. I'm giving 3 stars for that feature alone. I just downloaded the app so I'm not able to review on the accuracy and ability to recieve notifications at this time. Update: I have stopped getting notifications even though alert parameters are set low and permissions given to recieve them. I've changed nothing. Why?

Edit 29/08/2025: Changing my review from 1 to 5 stars because the dev team fixed the bug hours after I posted about it in my original review. Very impressed. 28/08/2025: App crashes when trying to open the Long forecast tab - every time. Uninstall/Reinstall didn't help.

This app used to work great, I used almost daily. But now it's not working correctly, keeps closing, & gives me a message saying the app has a bug. So now I wait for an update from the app I guess, or else get a different app. 🤷🏽‍♀️

***Update 8/28/25 the app continuously crashes. Tried uninstall and installing. Still crashing! ***5/12/25* Great for predicting and locations. It also shows cloud cover, the locations where and the strength, visibility. I check this app mainly for KP and the exact strength of viewing. May 11th 2024 it was right on & continues to be. Auroras all the way to southern states. Michigan was perfect visibility for the whole state. I'd love to have a repeat in 2025 or 2026. !!
