I like this app but it is not functioning correctly at the moment. If your video that you're viewing must be interrupted by a message notification or if you simply turn your phone right side up to read the messages or comments the video will stop playing and it will not start no matter how many times you hit the play button. Other than that it's a fine app.

New update is awful. It no longer saves where you left off on a video. If you swipe down and leave the video going to search for a new one it automatically paused the video. When you go back to play the video it cannot play unless you select a new video and then have to reselect the video you want to watch to get it to play. The app is horrible and extremely frustrating.

The app is so broken for me right now lmao. When minimizing, the video will often fly off the screen and disappear and won't come back. And almost every video, when I pause the video the playback breaks and won't play anymore. Also when watching landscape and switching back to portrait playback breaks and won't play anymore, then when I swipe down the video flies away and won't play other videos.

11/07/2024 the app is totally broken and unusable. You cant drag the cursor to go to a different part of the video because it causes a freeze. You cant leave a video because when you try to exit, it goes into pictures-in-picture mode but you cant see the miniplayer. YouTube has never been worse in its ENTIRE EXISTENCE. Watching 1 video is possible, scrolling your feed or trying to find something to watch is actually impossible.

New video recommendations are worse and i hate the feature of swiping up on a full screen video to get to a new video. for years swiping up got you to a recomended video feed, now you can't even see what you're swiping to. This isn't tiktok, get better youtube. Every update makes the mobile app less and less user friendly. Hoped the newest update (November 8th, 2024) would fix this as it seems to be a very disliked feature, but it has not.

Latest update is horrible. Whenever I stop watching a video it goes into picture-in-picture mode (which I have disabled), and I can't get rid of it except by starting another video. There's also a translucent bar across the top that goes away when I rotate. When I "send feedback" it insists on taking its own screenshot which is always blank, and I can't attach my own. At least it has cured my desire to endlessly scroll through videos.

Youtube is, of course, a great service. But it seems the site (and the app specifically) has given itself a challenge to provide as many unecessary features as possibly every minute for the sake of "new stuff". Like, before swiping up in full screen allowed you to see the next videos you could watch, or see the channel name or description. Now it just immediately loads to the next or previous video, and there's literally no use because the next button is literally right there on the screen.

ADS! I understand the reason for having ads but the most recent update has added the most annoying "feature" yet. When you are scrolling to decide what to watch if you look at a video thumbnail for more than a second a video pops up and pushes the thumbnail out of the way. "Oh that was a strange bug" I thought and scrolled back to look at the video thumbnail. Boom! The ad pops right back on my screen! This is awful ui design and I can't stand it. Please fix it.
