普賢菩薩，曾譯遍吉菩薩，音譯為三曼多跋陀羅，漢傳佛教四大菩薩之一。是象徵理德、行德的菩薩，同文殊菩薩的智德、正德相對應，是娑婆世界釋迦牟尼佛的右、左脅侍，被稱為「華嚴三聖」。從《法華經普-賢勸發品》描述：普賢菩薩來自東方寶威德上王佛國，至娑婆世界參加法華經聖會。故有推論普賢菩薩來自東方寶威德上王佛國淨土。《悲華經-諸菩薩本授記品第四之二》描述：寶藏佛授記普賢菩薩為來將成佛，名為智剛吼自在相王佛。
