MauPass App provides basic features like creation of an account, update of profile, generation of OTPs and activation of 2FA through E-KYC. Accessing eServices like MoKloud, Certificate of Character, e-registry etc should be done through MauPass website at https://maupass.govmu.org.

If you have forgotten your MauPass password, reset it through https://maupass.govmu.org/Account/ForgotPassword as this feature has not yet been implemented on the mobile app.

Using the MauPass app:
You need to go to https://maupass.govmu.org and register for an account or register for an account on the app itself. Note that if you are a citizen of Mauritius, you will need to enter your personal details as per your National Identity Card.
Refer to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChDlXc-816c&t=4s

You will need to enter your username and password to login to the mobile application.
You can use the app to view your personal details, change your profile picture and change your password.

You can also generate One-time passwords (OTP) to be used to login on EServices which require Two Factor Authentication (2FA), for example mokloud eservice.
You need to enable 2FA on your MauPass profile by going to a post office, to be able to generate OTPs. You should bring your National Identity Card or Passport if you have registered on MauPass using your passport number.
Refer to https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IqsWhA1_GA
You can also enable 2FA through the MauPass mobile app using the NIC or passport, whichever you have used to create your MauPass account and take a selfie. Ensure you go through the instructions on the MauPass app when doing E-KYC for activation of 2FA.

You can enable passwordless authentication on the Mobile app which will enable you to log on MauPass webportal using PIN/Pattern/Biometrics. Note the smartphone and laptop/PC should be connected to same Internet network for the passwordless authentication to work.
You will have the option to login using passwordless both on the web portal and on the MauPass mobile app.
To enable Passwordless, open the mobile app and
1. Tap on Passwordless Authentication.
2. Tap the Passwordless Options button. The Settings screen will open.
3. Tap the Passwordless Options menu.
4. Enable PIN/Pattern/Biometrics

Note that none of these details are saved in MauPass backend. PIN/Pattern/Biometrics are stored on your device itself.
Biometrics (fingerprint and Face Recognition) will work only if it is supported on your mobile device and it is enabled.
Once a passwordless option has been enabled, you can simply use the QR scanner on the MauPass mobile app to scan the QR code displayed on the MauPass website's login page and you will be prompted to authenticate using the option you have enabled on the MauPass mobile app.
To allow login on the MauPass mobile app through Passwordless authentication, you need to open the MauPass mobile app, go to Settings and enable App Lock.

As others have said, you need to have a degree in stress management to manage this app. Despite initial setup ok, it now tells me" invalid id/password". When uploading my id during setting up a ticket, my id file is "too large" Whoever designed this app should be sacked. As at 18th Dec 2024, application does not open anymore.... Great job. 😡

In an era where digital security is a must, it is frankly astonishing that this app still requires users to visit a physical post office to register for 2FA. This OUTDATED process is inconvenient & out of place in 2025! Modern auth solutions are widely available yet this app stubbornly clings to an ARCHAIC process. This is lazy, inconvenient & out of touch. Even giving it 1 star rating feels generous. Honestly, do better!

good initiative. but please allow people to update their usernames. also the app doesn't open while traveling abroad. login need to use email only and not username. also need add a 2FA. please keep updated to modern norms.

Big fight to access DOB field. Then can't input DOB before 1970. Still puzzling over "First Name doesn't match NIC" at last Submit; tried everything. Tried on 2 different mobiles. Poor app (underpaid developper?) Wish I could give minus stars.

non sensical application... cannot find the 2FA activation tab!!! how come that on ur website and videos, u invite people to use this feature, but on the other hand, u do not insert the tab in ur application!!! complete nonsense

Installing Arch Linux on text mode is easier than using this app, and I still haven't got the hang of it. You know you're in for a rough ride when the whole documentation is included in the app description

You disabled eKYC activation? What am I supposed to do now? Nothing works reliably. The user experience is terrible. I work in IT, and even I couldn't set it up properly. I can't imagine how an elderly person or anyone, for that matter could use this app. Such a waste of public funds.

Very worst app for a National app which should be a main tool for innovation but I don't even find the damn tab where there should have the 2FA ACTIVATION. Really sucks specially where we are 2025 technology have advanced so much but here not able to even manage an app as it should be. Its a shame
