Edit for 8th August update. App yet again crashes and will not open. Devs, please check your testing as this is second time it's failed after an update. Extremely frustrating. Edit Sept 2024: Since the latest update early September, this is now working and no longer crashing. Thanks Devs for sorting! Since the latest update the app just crashes and will not open. Very annoyed.

Would have been great if I could have used my expensive maps for my expensive and now unsupported satmap device. The info suggests that this is possible and you can still buy downloadable maps, which I haven't tried to do. However, they don't respond to emails and I have now given up. There are better apps out there that give great mapping and routes either free or for less money than you would spend with this lot.

I have used the SatMap device for over 10 years. I could not be without it. I also plan routes using xPedition2 on the laptop. Now I have started using the Xplorer app on the phone and it is just as good. Very similar to the SatMap. I cannot really fault it. I have tried other phone apps like Hiiker and Komoot, but Xplorer is by far the best. If you get this you should link it to xPedition2 on the computer for planning routes.

Looks amazing but very expensive versus the similar viewranger app. £863 for full GB OS mapping is extortionate versus £25 per annum! I've been a loyal fan of Satmap for about 15 years, buying an active 10 when they first came out and loving it! However, they need to move with the times and at this kind of price point I fear they'll not be around much longer....

As an existing Satmap user this is a great app. Gives me access to all my saved walking routes on the web based version superimposed on OS 25 maps at a very high quality. Very nice semi transparent route line which does not obscure the map details under the line (unlike the web version). Look forward to trying it out tomorrow. Have now used it for 3 local walks. Have also looked through the earlier reviews especially those concentrating on the cost. 1) The way I use the Satmap system, the £25 a year option is fantastic value for money since it gives access to good maps for much of the world and certainly all of Europe. 2) I do all of my planning on the Expedition2 at home on Windows desktop or laptop. I walk over 2000 miles a year across Europe so do quite a lot of planning. 3) When abroad I am now hoping that the phone option will give me some screen mapping. Currently, where I do not have a local map for the Satmap device I just load the route on a blank background. Massively better than nothing. 4) Walks led by others or unplanned walks can be captured either on the Satmap device or now the phone. 5) My phone is a Samsung J5 and not really up to the job. The app needs a lot of battery and memory for downloaded maps. I can only do about 8 miles on a full battery. Serious app users will be using a much better phone than my current one. 6) It has asked me to sign back into Expedition during a walk (a pain) but still appeared to carry on following the route. 7) To my mind this app is a great addition to having a Satmap device - not a replacement. The Satmap device is massively easier to use during a walk and has much more battery life. 8) UK only walkers may prefer OS Maps which is a pretty good app but still costs about the same but no mapping for other countries.

Just subscribed to the £40 premium access and nothing appears to work beyond the 1:250000 mapping (I have had a Satmap 10 for years). It appears that nothing functions properly on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. Multiple problems ranging from being stuck in zoom and not being able to zoom back out, jumping to random places on the map when zooming in, and the map layer function not working so you cannot access the downloaded 1:25000 maps - I want my money back!

I've been a Satmap user for years and it's great to have this new software for mobiles. My only gripe is that I've contacted support re getting my map cards authorised for use with the app but haven't had any response, hence dropping 2 stars until I hear from them.

The app is now much more usable. I was ever to download a local map plus a route I created on Xpedition2 and use it more or less as I would have been on the Satmap device. Very pleased. Great customer support, in my experience.
