In all honesty this app will only tell you if you child shows a more "classic" example of ASD, the questionnaires are no different to a basic poor list you could find online which is again typically geared towards a child who is very clearly on the "low" end of the spectrum rather than one on the "higher" end. If the majority of parents take this app at their word then many children with needs would be missed.

I did the assessment at just before 12 months. It came back as highly likely. The presentation of results was very distressing. Three weeks later my son started clapping and waving, which when I redid the test changed his assessment to low likelihood. It was a horrible experience and totally unnecessary. The app could be improved by factoring in age more sensibly, providing some kind of support when high likelihood comes back and changing how the information is presented.

I had a vague thought that my son at 18 months was having a flag or two for autism, but was unsure, I found this app, he came out as "highly likely" to be autistic, which surprised me and educated me on other things I was not aware were autistic behaviours and sensitivities. This gave me the confidence to go to my dr and he was diagnosed a few months after. This meant that he could get supports straight away and avoid being in distressed as he developed. Great job guys!

This tool provides suggested diagnoses (e.g. stating that a child has a high likelihood of autism) when the information collected by the app in no way whatsoever justifies these conclusions. The problem is that the researchers are generalising conclusions about sensitivity & specificity from a very different context (screening of symptoms by trained nurses) and assuming they apply to parental self-report on an app. The app will consequently almost certainly have a very high false positive rate.

As the parent of an autistic 10 year old I have concerns over the accuracy of this app. Filling it out for my child as he presented at 25 months old informed me he had low likely hood of the condition. The criteria used is extremely narrow and misses the many other traits that can be present. As a psychologist I find the premise of such an app troubling on many levels in terms of validity and its ethical implications.

Great questions, dreadful DOB calendar no matter what phone used it is buggy and almost impossible to enter a DOB as a result. Needs fixing!!!

I'm trying to register by the app it keeps shutting down on me and I'm sorry I can't add my children on there because she was born in 2020 so I'm deleting the app and sending a email to delete my account
