The games are nice but for some reason there's no audio from the cutscenes even though the bgm is there, I've checked the volume too just in case but it's at default settings. This needs some fixing. Edit: The audio ok after uninstalling and reinstalling back. Edit02: After playing for quite some time, the puzzles are interesting, but the beginning stories are not as good, some feels like a bit cut short and not explained well.

In the beginning i was really hit by how well the series was implemented on smartphones: to be later disappointed by the game itself. Puzzles are very bad, there is no logic, sometimes you don't have enough data to complete them (unless you use coins, which is not what they're meant for), sometimes they're just dumb and nonsense. Plot is poor, chats are not interesting. Music and graphics are ok, but, from a lifelong Layton fan, I feel like this game is way below Layton's standards.

The puzzles are not as good as previous games, with many having confusing wording and odd solutions. There are also multiple mistakes that have gone unaddressed. Puzzle 100 mistakenly reads "A is the correct answer", giving you no information about the puzzle (which isn't even multiple choice!). Puzzle 101 gets right and left wrong, meaning that they accept the answer that is a mirror of the correct solution instead. The storytelling and characters are also quite weak, but still enjoyable.

Most puzzles are okay but there are more horrible ones than there are great ones. The real problem with this game are the cases and characters. Miss layton is fine, but the other two characters (especially the insufferable dog) are frustratingly stupid. The cases, which act as the story/plot for this game are simply horrendous. Multiple times I have guessed the outcome of a case within the first minute of it, which ruins any motivation I may have had to go through frankly meh puzzles. Do not buy

This app is not very stable. Freezes and crashes are common, and even the linking of a Level 5 account which is pushed at you very hard caused the game to crash several times. Some of the on-screen text is partially backed by ugly black smears as if they are trying to make the text more readable, but it only covers part of the text anyway. Very messy. A shame as the gameplay, when it decides to work properly, is fine.

I've played and replayed the original Layton trilogy a few times over the years, and at first I was worried that this game wouldn't stack up to the others. But after the first couple cases it got more intriquing, the puzzles got harder, and I really warmed up to all the characters! And it ended with a fun twist in true Layton fashion. Would definitely play another game centered around Kat, should another ever make it this far out West :)

Big fan of the Layton franchise so this was so exciting to play. And it was mostly fantastic! Only thing I didn't like was that a good chunk of the puzzles were hard to understand and therefore difficult. I don't know if that's my poor comprehension talking or if the wording really was too confusing 😂. BUT I still loved the game.

I am that person who lost my save data 😂😂😂 I just started the third case and go to sleep and here I am, the next morning with save data erased 😅 whoops, probably need to make Level 5 ID now for precaution. I think there might be some glitch on the third case that needs to be look after. Great game though, which is why I give a good review overall.
