I really like the narrative in this game although it is pretty short I did enjoy the story. However the "gameplay" does make the experience as a whole a little less enjoyable. Yes it is worth it to get passed the books and the mini games definitely. But I just feel like the game could've gone without so much tapping on text bubbles. Still highly recommend

I bought this after completing everything in the original Alter Ego. Truthfully, I think that Complex may have been more impactful as a visual novel without mini game or clicking mechanics, as the mini games feel very clunky and the pacing is very slow... I didn't feel that this was a problem in the original. It is also extremely short for the pricing and didn't feel particularly satisfying in either gameplay or expanding original story.

It's good, really pretty animation with great music. It's nice to see more of Es, as this game shows what she does when you aren't around. Gets into her mind and shows what she thinks about these books she has. My problem is that the game is really, really tedious. The reading scenes take a long time and when there is gameplay, they're frustrating tap-style games (think flappy bird). It's also very short for $7. Can only recommend if you're heavily invested in Es as a character (I am).

I love how it expands on Es's character. The first game was great, giving life to a character I wasn't sure I'd feel for. The second one was short and I'm barred from finishing the game, as I've gotten through all the books, except the last one. I don't know how to unlock that one. Game was short and sweet. Loved seeing her dreams. Definitely recommend both for quite the immersive story.

Well, that was something. This game/visual novel (especially the ending) hit a lot harder than I expected. I wish this wasn't the end to the story...(or maybe it's not?) If you enjoyed the first game, this is a somewhat short but worthwhile introspective look into the character's mind. Highly recommended but you may want to have some tissues on hand, lol

Very well done and expands on the story told in Alter Ego. Very simple clicking and tap games but I feel that there could have been more available as well as more books to walk through. Hopefully that gets added (would love some of the books you borrow at the end game of Alter Ego) as well as more dreams we can find because outside them there isn't much to honestly justify the price tag. A bit expensive but worth it if you've gone through all of the base game.

It feels like this game is building up character backstory to Es, which means in-universe the Facade, the room Es is trapped in, and everything is real, it's not just a metaphor. Considering that, it's really annoying that this game just spins it's wheels showing different what ifs for stories Es could be slotted into. Like "wouldn't it be cool if we made a sequel where Es got out of the room, and you could have fun adventures together?" And, yeah that would be cool... So why not just make that?

Complex is an overall fantastic game that is a must-have for all who enjoyed the first Alter Ego. It really gives a lot of background on Es' character which we still know very little about. The artstyle varries a bit from the previous game, but it can undoubtedly be recognized as part of Alter Ego. I really hope that Complex is the second game of many to come, as the game itself was rather short. In the meantime, I'm crossing my fingers that Alter Ego will live on!
