Great port of a unique RPG that many probably skipped, myself included. Thanks to this release I finally finished the game! I only gave it 4 stars due to the occasional bug - the game crashed or went to a black screen every now and then, so save often. It happened after boss battles and leaving the dungeons. It also happened after the final boss fight 4x which was an inconvenience.

What Im loving the most is the music. It seriously changes the entire tone of the game, just upgrading from the old-school beeps and boops from NES days. Amazing game to rediscover with this modern, yet retro pixel remaster! Also, game does have auto-saves. It hides the first slot which is the autosave slot. You have to scroll up a little. Edit: So im in Mysidia Cave, lots of play time, and now i cannot lock my screen while playing because it causes my game to freeze when exiting combat.

Pros: Graphics look amazing, Mobile is nice but personallly I would've preferred switch, Faithfulness to the original is incredible, gameplay, is very pretty & smooth yet very faithful, Music is outstanding, without doubt, one of the main reason to buy this. Cons: none of the new content from the various remakes to add playability, no face portraits when speaking(minor nitpick), no console release(yet), can feel a bit clunky, diagonal movement is weird.

The game feels good overall. Controls feel smooth, and the "tap mode" works surprisingly well. Graphics look nice and give that nostalgic feel without going overboard. The mobile version is missing some features from the console and PC versions (changing encounter rates, portrait of characters when talking to them, and fast walking outside of tap mode). FF2 has always been a weird game to play, but this version, I'm my opinion, is the best way to play it.

Similar to FF1, a great port of this game! Virtually any issues I have are with the game itself, rather than anything about this particular version of the game; in fact, this might be the definitive way to play FF2. The same issues with FF1 exist here as well: the font and battle menu buttons are rather small, and the virtual thumbstick is difficult for me to move around with. However, those are fairly minor complaints, and the game itself is an excellent port!

The old version was a bit janky with how the touch screen interface was rigged to work with it, but I was able to get the flow easily enough. In this one, i find myself unable to get used to the controls and menus. It's nice to move diagonally, but the way its implemented makes navigation more difficult. The battle menus are inconsistent, sometimes the back button is in the list, sometimes its somewhere else. Not much in settings that can help either. A bit more polish is needed there.

Lots of quality of life upgrades from the original game and the previous ports, but there are a few downsides. Load time on startup is very long for no apparent reason, and there is no support for any control input (Controller or keyboard) besides the touch controls. Also, the game cannot handle being minimized to switch over to another app; upon re-opening the game it will reboot to the title screen which is absurd in a mobile game. Get the Steam version instead.

I just want an up, a down, a left, a right, and an A and a B button. How did they mess that up? Also, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to turn the music to the correct original music. At least let me hide all this ugly immersion breaking junk all over screen. I can tell I am walking up because the character is walking up. Those blue menu buttons there all the time are just frustrating in my view constantly. They were strange with their decisions of what bugs to remove and leave in.
