Hungry Hearts Diner is a game about a small shop at the edge of a
big city. Take on the role of the hard-working old lady struggling to
manage her family's little restaurant—and all by her lonesome, too!

Cook tasty meals for a variety of colorful characters, and learn more
about their triumphs and struggles as they chow down on your tasty,
home-cooked food. Rice balls, dumplings, tempura...you can make it all!
In fact, the more you cook, the more dishes you'll unlock.
And hey, you'll even get a chance to learn about good ol' fashioned
Japanese cuisine while you're at it! Did you know you can make
jelly out of seaweed? Because I didn't!

Of course, the people who visit your diner all have a story to tell.
And what makes people more talkative than a full belly?
Feed your customers until they feel like sitting back and spinning
you a yarn or two!

But not every story is a happy one, and not every ending
joyous. Stay tuned for some twists and turns!

Story
------------------------------------------
On a tiny side street in a nameless little neighborhood sits an
old Japanese diner. Things are quiet here; old-fashioned
you might say. But of course they are. It's Showa era Japan,
and the television is just starting to come into vogue.

Slide open the screen door and you'll see a kindly old lady
hard at work behind the counter. Her husband's been sick
for a while, and she's had to run the place on her own.
It's hard work, but she's a tough one, and she gets by.

Sit down at one of the worn wooden tables, and close your
eyes. Thunk thunk goes the steady beat of a knife chopping
veggies. Hisss; the sound of meat sizzling in a pan.
Swish swish; a whisk beating eggs.
The soothing sounds of a simple kitchen.

Sit here long enough, and all that tension will just flow
right out of you. So come on in, order a hot meal, and take
a load off. The peace'll do you good.

Tried the game as it was available on playpass. It's a short semi-idle game (no offline gains, active clicking required) which can reasonably be completed in a few days. The gameplay loop revolves around unlocking new recipes to progress character dialogues, which gradually entwine together to form a delightfully quaint story. Overall a lovely game, despite minor peeves like the lack of adjustable volume. Would reccomend to anyone with time to kill and patience to read dialogues :)

get ready for lots of feels. what a unique concept and lovely character play. a bit tedious at the end spamming the food for the final person to complete the story but it was fantastic gameplay overall. a bit slow but it's not the typical diner dash type of game. ended up purchasing the upgrade just to support the developers. awesome work guys! lovely artwork too! so delicate! pls update the game with additional characters or food or plot development!

Wonderful game so far. Intricate, sad stories which shoulder the burden of reality while being given the reminder that the characters still try their best to move on with their lives. The background music is great, as well as the cute animations, and delicious looking food. I'm currently on my way to maximise the levels of my dishes. When I'm done, I'll continue my review!

Wonderful game with soul; all of the characters have compelling stories. I nearly teared a couple of times. The gameplay itself is more of a means for the stories to occur - there is nothing particularly strategic about it. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable experience and did not detract from the quality of the app.

Love the art, the simple mechanics of the game, and the stories behind each characters. It's like reading a bunch of short stories in one go, and I thought it would be cheesy (in some ways, they are), but it's still quality slice of life material. I cried towards the end. This has been a wonderful play. Reached the end in 2 days after downloading.

At first it seems simple and no different from other idle "farming" games, but the true engagement of this game is not on the levelling and upgrades but the stories told. This may also be why, unlike many other diner/server games, there is no time limit to serve a customer and you will not lose a customer/lives for being slow. Instead, I can take my time and be completely absorbed into the game's touching and compelling stories! Suggestion: Would be awesome if we can change the background music!

A very lovely game with well-structured and touching stories that unfold as you play the game. Personally, among all the Gagex games I've played I think these stories were my favorite especially with the way they were unlocked. The only thing I didn't like was that it was quite hard to collect money since it didn't do so when you weren't actively clicking, and I didn't want to play a clicker for so long. I got lazy at one point, so I think that "idle collecting" feature would be useful and good.

Quaint, with a thoughtful, poignant storyline that is signature of this series. I took about a day to reach the ending, but there really is no pressure to rush through it. I do wish that the sale mechanism continues to function after closing the game, and that more energy is allowed, and more food to be prepared and stocked up - - it would be more satisfying but that is really not necessary for game completion. I also suspect that the translation for certain items could be more accurate.
