Absolutely love the real-life version of this game, and delighted by the excellent job they've done in creating this app. Great to play with friends in person or on line, challenges to solve by yourself, and lots of people worldwide to play with too! Great communication re server updates, downtime etc. Some really fun modes get unlocked as you work your way up through the levels - my family loves it, and we can't stop playing!

I really like this app. We've enjoyed the board games (I even have a codenames shirt). The app is more than I was hoping for. I think they have really done a good job in representing the game and enhancing it. Come play!! It does need more people playing. I just start as many as possible (unless I'm doing pass and play) and don't worry about if people slack off. I hope that I can unlock more pass and play options. Thank you codenames team!

It's a well designed app but people take days to take their turn. It ends up feeling more like doing daily busy work than it does playing the game... Edit: In response to the developer comment: the asynchronsity in the app is what I do not like about it! It does not feel fun to have to wait to finish games. Daily tasks/obligations disguised as a game are not fun! I suggest adding the option of setting up faster games with less down time.

Amazing implementation. I originally had some frustrations about how it limited how much you could play. but leveling up mostly alleviates that. I still think 24 hours is too long to give people to take a single turn. Too many games time out because players abandon them. 12 hours would be more than enough. And PLEASE give us the ability to use our word collections in regular mission games, and maybe even daily challenges. The base word list really gets old after you've played quite a bit.

Wow. They went far beyond simply bringing this great word clue game from the table to an app, and did a spectacular job with it! I'm completely hooked! The original (smart, insanely successful) Codenames is at the core, plus really creative options that aren't possible on a table. (Nothing extra to buy.) You're matched up to play with english speakers from all over, and can also do clue puzzles by yourself. Friends (both in-app and in life) may set up games with more flexible rules and chat.

Keeps crashing. The game itself is excellent, but I guess it became more popular than they expected. Despite the frequent server upgrades, it's now virtually unplayable unless you want to sit waiting for a minute at a time for it to connect. They should stop accepting new customers until they sort this out.

The game is very fun. I'd give another star if Duet was implemented fully. My friend and I got the app because we really enjoy playing Duet and while 'Team vs Assassin' mode is close, it isn't the same thing. ... It's a bit weird to me that they have 'gamified' what is already one of my favourite games, but I guess that's what apps are all about. I won't deny that the little extras - accomplishments, trophies, etc - add a little extra flavour.

I love the board game and the app doesn't disappoint either. There are various tasks to ease you into the app and and enough to keep you engaged. The only thing that I'm finding that is letting it down are the players that purposely stall the game and then drop out because they don't want to lose. Fantastic app version of the game let down by the odd player.
