The quality of the news is excellent, but the app is limited and that particularly sucks given they shut down their local news apps and rolled it into this. There's no search option so you're severely limited in what you can access. 100% positive search was available in the local CBS News Philly app, still works on my phone. An old link, whether from 3 days or 3 months ago, opens fine in the app, so this choice is intentional. Also, scrolling the categories only takes you to 25-ish articles.

The content is great, but the app has annoyances compared to others. Video boxes follow you as you scroll taking up screen real estate and making you close them on every single article. Also takes up cell data when you don't need/want it to -- if I wanted video I would have clicked on the video tab at the bottom. Ad bar at the bottom of every page is persistent, in addition to scrolling ads on pages (other apps have only scrolling ads, which is a much more pleasant experience). Not a joy to use.

I like the content and layout but the headlines are cut off making it so that you have to tap on it to get the full headline. At first I thought it was just my phone but I have other news apps that the headlines fit well. I wish there was a way to adjust the size of the font. it's way smaller than my other news apps.

Update: One of the recent updates has totally resolved the issue I had with ads, would now absolutely recommend! Original Review: The ads are insanely invasive and only about 1/4th of my screen ends up being the actual article. The news group itself is solid though. Edit: Unfortunately the videos can't be closed when they're playing ads, only after the ads are over

No 'dark mode'. this is a problem specific to me and others with vision issues who have trouble seeing black type on bright white backgrounds. My phone is set for dark mode, but the app does not respect that. and it does not have its own dark mode setting.

McDonald's pop up/breakthrough ads now make it impossible to even scan an article. Unless there's an update to solve this problem, I'll have to give up on CBS news.

I deleted your app because I can no longer close the video at the top and I can't stand the page moving all the time. not every one likes to have the web page constantly moving I don't know why y'all think we do. all this automatic the Internet unusable is not doing what the user wants it does what you want I can't stand the constant movement from all these ads. why are y'all trying to over stimulate people. and replace human thought with AI. I hope the robots get y'all first jerks

It was alright to me. I Cherish CBS news style of reporting and story coverage. I kinda prefer it over ABC news sometimes. Most days , I only tune in to the evening news. Personally for, CBS has engaging reporters and correspondents.
