I'm really excited to try the new update and reset my progress to start getting gold from the beginning, but uhhh... I can't write anything anymore. I don't know if it's just me but after a few minutes of searching I realized that the blank space under the card is supposed to be the canvas. Nothing's showing, no grid or strokes at all. Maybe it's just my old device but if not I really hope it's fixed soon :') Edit: Thank you so much for the quick fix!

Overall this is a really helpful app. The animated stroke order and practice mode are helpful. Suggestions: 1. Include some more examples of kanji usage and furigana for the kanji 2. Add a freedraw mode or practice mode without the strokes appearing on screen 3. Make an option to adjust the pacing of introducing new kanji. I find the pacing too fast and use a pen and paper to write the kanji as well as example sentences to slow it down. A freedraw mode and adjustable pace would really help.

Nice and easy app to learn kanjis whilst learning the order of the strokes when drawing them. Might be improved by: - giving the several meanings of a kanji, not only the main one - adding options to hide the kanji whilst drawing it. Might even consider tho show the kanji until silver level, flash it before hiding it at gold, then adding a platinum level where the kanji is no more shown.

*Edited after developer response: Jumps ahead without much logic to the kanji being introduced. Would be more useful if it solidified simple and common kanji first, but it doesn't bring them back often enough after gold status- leading to low retention. Not helpful if your goal is to learn meaning or pronunciation. The emphasis is only on stroke order. This is ok for reviewing kanji learned elsewhere. *The study sets are not intuitive to access & help info does not explain them at all.

All in all, I've memorized more kanji with this than any other source. Great companion app to use aside Duolingo. Only complaint I could think of was that the drawing detection can be a little too strict at times, especially with longer horizontal lines. But hey, I'm still learning the kanji, even if the app says I got it wrong :P would also recommend to users to grab a notepad at the same time to drill each kanji.

The app has a robust catalogue, but it's poorly designed and annoying to use. Just one example: after you make a mistake, you can click a "Try Again" button to try again... but if you tap anywhere other than that button (including while the clunky animation hasn't finished showing the page yet), then you close the page and skip to the next character instead.

I've had and used this app for years. It's been really great for drumming the meanings and readings into your brain as well as stroke order. Unfortunately as you progress this app's usefulness runs dry as the kun-yomi and on-yomi readings for N1 kanjis are not available. It's been 4 years and I'm still waiting for this to be updated.

The best for stoke order, I recommend buying a touchscreen pen to use with this app. I would like the developer to add english translation and onyomi konyomi reading above the character, currently I can only choose one or the other. This way the user can learn kanji reading, writing, calligraphy, stroke order and vocabulary with english translation.
