We have gone through three different devices so far and two networks and the app can no longer access the devices locally - only through the cloud. Shelly support blames our networks (multiple). The firmware updates get stuck in loops of two versions and too many wifi problems with their devices: the app can't even reboot the device. We no longer trust Shelly.

The new app is absolutely terrible. I spent hours trying to add a new Shelly Plus 1. Every time it gets to asking for the wifi password it jumps out of the current screen on the first character. The old app worked fine. Shelly Smart Control sucks! I am a network technician for over 30 years. Get your act together BEFORE forcing a change to the new app.!!!!!!

I like this app. I'll agree that setting up devices, then groups/rooms, then scenes is a little cumbersome. Once it's set up it's easy to use, fast, and reliable. I have 5 Shelly devices in use. What I find easiest is perform basic setup using the local web interface then use the app to enable cloud, add to rooms, etc. I don't like the idea that there is a paid upgrade, but they aren't pushy about it, yet. Just hope it doesn't become a pay-to-use service.

Wow, Ithis app is bad. To add a Shelly RGBW2 , I first have to connect my phone to the shelly wifi, then before going to the next step, I have to connect my phone back to a wifi with internet or else the app hangs. If while connected to the shelly wifi you try to add a new room when adding the device, the app doesn't add the room nor does it give you any error message. If you put the app in background and return to it, it goes to the main menu instead of where you were.

This is a terrible app. Bought some Shelly buttons for home automation.. Can't create a room, it just goes away when you click on. Can't add a device, it finds it, give it a name, you can't select a room because guess what, you can't create rooms. I selected hidden devices and it lets you save and then, it's gone. Time for a new dev team.

I put the Shelly relays into my yard lights sourced from the garage. Every time I wanted to turn the yard lights on, the app wanted to update and download up to 77 files - no kidding. By the time it was done, the guests had arrived to a dark yard. Finally we got to a point where the app actually worked when needed. And now they tell me to install a new app. The new app, wants me to set everything up from scratch. Nope. If it can't use the old setup, Shelly is dead to me. Customer lost.

Privacy - good bye! The great thing about Shelly is that they have a well-documented API, so that you can monitor and control devices yourself and keep all your data OFF THE INTERNET. Anyway, I was curious to see what the app could deliver, but I gave up when it kept asking for my location - you don't need to know that! What else would you have asked me for? If you value your privacy at all, stick to the APIs and the devices' web interfaces.

Edit: Just noticed in the Upper Right Corner that it is in fact a Beta Version 3.0.1025! I wish they would have mentioned that in their email invitation 😬 After around 30 minutes, the Timer started working in the new app. Original Post: Yikes! It is not respecting the Timer/Auto-off settings of our Shelly Plus 1 Switches.
