could be a little tricky for the less adept, but the musical offerings are stellar in my opinion and the shows are some of the best on radio around. app is great, i only wish the skip function skipped a smaller number of seconds and one could go back further than 2 episodes of any show. Also quitting the app is way more of a task than it should be.

While I love the station, I've had to uninstall the app. I use it infrequently when I'm not near my radio, but there is something wrong with the background service. The battery usage statistics blame it for 40% or more of the battery usage when the phone is not in use. This is when the app hasn't even been opened in months and just after restart and with restrictions on running in the background. Pixel 3.

My favorite station to listen to in Seattle. However, the app is clunky. It would be nice if it included a widget so I could pause the audio without unlocking my phone. Sometimes closing the app doesn't stop the audio and I have to reboot my phone. Love KBCS but the app could use some improvement.

1/19/21 I only miss the complete playlist for each program. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? 1/31/25 Four years later KBCS is still my "go to" station. And I still miss a real time Playlist. And it would be a big bonus if we could access older Playlists too! Iaan Hughes rocks! When his show is on, it's like listening to an old friend doing what he loves. But I don't want to slight any of the other fine folks in the KBCS family!

Eric Guthrie here saying I'm feeling somewhat lost on the redesign. It was really nice to have the full program songlist while listening to on-demand Bluegrass Ramble so I could go to certain songs for others to hear, but now a don't see it and it is hard to keep the interest of others many times without it. I sure wish the developers had left well enough alone. -- Feeling Lost in Alabama

It's worked better in the past. Now it stops more often, and has deleted my favorite shows. It's still one of the best radio stations in the Seattle Bellevue area, but as an app not as happy. That review was some years ago, and I still listen as often as I can but not as much, this the 4th revised review 07/27/23 Today an archived program stopped 3,4 times. Not happy, downgraded from 5 stars to 3.

In my experience, The KBCS app is less capable then other streaming apps I use (i.e. Tunein, Spotify). The streaming service is intermittent and shuts down randomly ...very frustrating. Does not function well in limited bandwidth areas.

Edit for today : I still feel the same. Please support this excellent Public Radio Station. It plays my favorite shows, works well on my phone. And it continues to work well. An excellent app! And it just gets better!
