I'm actually shocked at how good this is. The performance, the AI features. It's a joy to use! Definitely one of the better built self hosters our there. It's by no means perfect yet, and it's missing one main feature (delete backed up images locally), but it's also actively being worked on. Bought a license to support the devs :)

Google Photos has been great.. While I still used my Pixel 1 with unlimited backups. And so with a phone upgrade, nagging began. I set up immich with Podman, data is on a network share between my server and my NAS. Only set up recently, but so far, great. I feel like I finally own my data, my content loads super fast, and by looking at the roadmap, I see a bright future.

Amazing! Though its weird to download from google play store, but anyway, soon I'll be google-free! Been stable across the last 6 or so updates, even the breaking changes are well documented, but still, its good idea to do backup, backup, backup, BACKUP GUYS 😉 Lovely team, supportive community, its the perfect open-source project <3

Great App, but Video Upload Could Be Improved This app is fantastic overall! However, one thing that could really improve the experience is the handling of video uploads. It would be helpful if the app could manage the server from both a public address and a local address simultaneously, automatically detecting which to use based on the network conditions. This would increase efficiency by avoiding the constant switching between "up and down" on the same connection. Still, it's a great app wit

Docker setup instructions could use a couple more steps to help the novice, but once setup works extremely smoothly and instantiously fast! Combine with the free Tailscale app to avoid open ports on home router and you have a Google Photos replacement easy. As it is still a beta, it lacks comfort features, but this will come in time and currently is stable and funcitonal!

I used it for a few months and tried to like it, but when I upgraded from Ubuntu 24.04.1 to 24.10, my library got trashed. That's when I decided not to bother anymore. When it did work, there are many features that are mostly half baked, and the facial recognition is okay at best Also breaking changes and nearly weekly updates made it too tedious to keep up with.

Been hosting server on Truenas and the app is a great companion. There are some things that bug out from time to time but overall it's been a great user experience. The only thing missing is the ability to full edit the photos. Maybe in the future ;-)

When you select a photo in the phone's native Photos app and select the SHARE menu, the immich is not exposed. This is a bit of a bummer because Google Photos is exposed and allows you to list photos that are not meant to be shared. It would be nice to see this feature added.
