The Old English language is at once recognisable and unfamiliar: many words resemble ones that are used today, but their meanings are not always the same, and they can take many more forms than in the modern language.Liberation Philology Old English helps you master these complexities by practice. Wherever you have your phone handy, it is ready to drill you on Old English vocabulary and grammar with a continuous multiple-choice test. Your answers are immediately confirmed or corrected, and reinforced through repetition.
• Vocabulary: 150 levels, each testing the translation of ten words between modern and Old English. A further 330 levels cover the vocabulary of Beowulf in approximate sequence. Interspersed among these are cumulative levels reviewing what has been learned earlier. Interspersed among these are cumulative levels reviewing what has been learned earlier (giving a total of 542 levels).
• Nouns: Tests your ability to parse and decline all classes of Old English nouns.
• Verbs: Tests your ability to parse and conjugate a full range of weak, strong, and irregular verbs in Old English.

I love that there is specifically vocabulary for Beowulf, however, in a "level" it appears to be pretty much random what word you get asked. Often times there are one to three words that I barely get asked while the words I know well appear often. That, unfortunately, is a waste of time. I do like the options to learn the declensions and verb forms. It would be amazing to be able to see all the vocab in this app and choose words not to appear (anymore) in the levels.

Just too slow. It takes over 200 correct answers to progress just 0 1%. I am still on level one vocab and have completed nearly 3 thousand correct answers to get to 99.3%. And this is the same few words over and over (approx 8 or so words). If younake amistake the correction times increase, and you lose your progress. Not designed to encourage progress but to give up. At this rate of having to achieve 100% it will take years to get anywhere. Dreadful design

I love how everything is in the app, however there isn't any pronunciation for special characters, I know that every letter in Old English is pronounced but certain letters like Æ or Ō I have to Google to learn how to pronounce.

Amazing but would be better if it included audio recordings of pronunciations so I know what to say if I want to say the word(s). Otherwise, it's amazing.

I really like this app, the fun way to learn about Old English.

Amazing app, but really needs voices. I wanna hear how words are said.

This app is very useful as far as it goes, but since it is for the beginner, the following changes would perfect it: marking of long vowels; marking of "dotted" c and g; paradigms for pronouns.

Pronoun paradigms would be great! I also liked the black background better, would be nice to be able to change it manually. Anyway it's still great.
