How to Play:Chess Basics for Beginners
New to chess? This app makes learning easy! Chess is a 2-player strategy board game on an 8x8 grid of 64 black-and-white squares. Players take turns moving 16 unique pieces each (1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 knights, 2 bishops, 8 pawns). Here’s how each piece moves:
-King: Moves 1 square in any direction (key to protect—losing it means checkmate!).
-Queen: Moves any number of squares horizontally, vertically, or diagonally (most powerful piece).
-Rooks: Move any number of squares horizontally or vertically (great for controlling lines).
-Knights: Jump in an L-shape (2 squares in one direction + 1 square perpendicular—only piece that leaps over others).
-Bishops: Move any number of squares diagonally (stay on their starting color).
-Pawns: Move 1 square forward (2 squares on their first move); capture diagonally forward. Reach the opponent’s back rank? Promote it to a queen/rook/knight/bishop!
-Goal: Achieve checkmate—trap the opponent’s king so it can’t escape capture. The app’s hints to learn chess and tips will guide you as you practice!

I like that there is a method of helping at the lower levels. Very helpful. Nice graphics. Very very good !! Some other chess apps take advantage at the very start like level one beginner. They use the ability of the computer to counter each and every move. I would get to the point where I am just a few moves away from checkmate. And the app f's the damn board map and jumps and tricks and tries to slam me down. But this app does the right way. Very helpful. I Recommend it.

Once playing, the chess game itself is decent and fairly immersive. But the ads ... BEYOND annoying. Sometimes lasts 2-3 min at a time, not skippable. Meanwhile, the tinyyyy X button in the corner takes 1-2 tries before successfully closing the ad (each time you don't succeed, it takes you to the play store). Didn't even have this app for 24 hours before I had to call it quits. Good grief.

Everytime I am put in check (playing comp), it refuses to let me just take the players piece. It forces me to move my king as my only move no matter what other legal move is available. But vice versa, the computer is able to take my piece when I put their side in check and not be forced to only move its king. It's frustrating. As well as if I corner the computer, I get a stalemate instead of a win but the computer can corner me in the exact same way and have a win.

While I thinks it s good that you start at the lower skill level and build your way up, as soon as I got the the level "virtuoso" the computer started cheating. They put me in check, and instantly said I lost the game, when I still could have moved. When I tried again, and was winning, the computer forfeited, meaning I won, but it didn't unlock the next level, because it said it was a "draw" but I was clearly winning. Hence, the computer cheats.

The game is quite good and of course it's worthy to play except for one thing, which is the difficulty of some levels is too beyond especially legend level the final one! I know it might sound so creepy but to those who understand this game very well they know the kind of stuff am talking about. Additionally, the computer went too far. I finished all the levels though!

Got an ad in the middle of a game, way to break concentration. Starting a new game, got 4 unskippable ads in a row, chose single player, and then a 5th ad immediately. Uninstalled! ONE ad in between games and would be tolerable & would get me to keep the app longer, thus eventually watching more ads long term. This ad bombardment is unforgivable.

The claim of "offline" chess is highly misleading. This app ate through over 150MB of mobile data in a few hours, without telling me. I think it was probably to load all the many adverts. I have now disabled its access to 5G and will probably uninstall it once I have got around to finding a truly offline chess app.

Too many damn ads and no way to quickly dismiss them. Also, when playing against the app, it sometimes cheats; several times I clearly put the AI in checkmate, but it quickly ends the game and says that it was a "draw". Gonna delete this app and look for a different one.
