The puzzles are awesome, and am able to learn new techniques and approaches to the game of chess. I would say if there was more of an explanation for the good ans bad moves. Sometimes I can see why the moves were productive but there's always a few I don't understand and it's a tab bit frustrating. End in end for a free app that teaches people good tactics I have to give 5 starts 👍

Great for practice, lots of tactic puzzles. I took one point off because the goal sometimes comes off as confusing. For instance it might say "play to win" when you're going for the queen, or "play for decisive advantage" when you are playing for checkmate. In a way that's good because it makes you think but I feel like they may as well not provide a goal. Outside of that minor complaint it's a great app.

This is great for practicing checkmates. It gives scenarios in which a single move can checkmate the other player and, if you miss it, teaches how to make the right move. It's hard! I'm a beginner and I almost never see the solution. Even after working out what seems like every possible move, I still often miss it. I know that as I get better at the game, I'll get better at this and I suspect that the reverse is probably true. I'm just not there yet.

The application is geared towards beginners. You can have a blast playing the whole set once you aquire the full version or you can play it free with a limited set of tactics. When you're stuck you're offered a hint and if you still don't understand then it will play out the move for you - maybe a spoiler for some but you can replay it later if you want. Nevertheless a great app for learning the beginning of chess tactics as advertised.

I don't think I'm learning anything from this approach. It's like playing with Bobby Fisher or Gary Kasparov. At my stage, I'm just trying to improve the game. Going from A to B, instead of jumping from A to Z. I probably have tried so far about a hundred or so exercises without noticing any improvement. Not having any clue for any given problem what should be my next move. I think I learn a great deal instead by playing against the computer with many different levels.

Puzzles designed to teach specific tactics. 200 free puzzles and about 1000 more when you pay. I really feel like I'm getting better at chess much more than other random chess puzzles. Also, great built in game analyzer so you can try out different moves and counter moves to make sure you really understand the puzzle.

At 7 hours on tests, my rating is falling steadily. Yes, mastery comes with time but problem is there is no hint/help with how to assess positions for whatever it is an advanced player looks for. Is there a method or do they see every possibility and their outcomes? I also don't understand the meaning of the color-coded arrows, so the hints don't help me correct my moves. AFTER the solution is revealed, then I can see why it is correct, but have not learned a generally applicable technique

Best learn how to play chess game I've found. I shows you tactics by focusing on solving real world "puzzles" with increasing level of difficulty. The puzzles get difficult but it has a couple of cryptic hints at first but then just solves the next step for you to keep things moving. It also includes alternative responses to moves.
