Kampala City Division safety walk-abouts were conducted led by the Mayor with representatives from the technical and political wing and the women and girls who experience violence in the public spaces. Through these walk-abouts black spots were identified where violence takes place or places where women and girls feel unsafe. A scoping study was also conducted to provide more information in this regard and also inform program design.

In a bid to guide on the safety of women and girls, "Safe Kampala" app is has the following core functionalities:

1. Provide information on safe and unsafe spots in the city to guide especially the women and girls as they make decisions to move.

2. Enable feedback as it is interactive to ensure that reports on Gender-based violence are made and acted upon.

3. Enables users to send emergency alert sms to their guardians in case of any danger.

Unsafe spot have been geo-fenced so that the app alerts users once they reach these spots. To provide feedback, the app enables users to report any incident of violence through sending sms alerts.
