Dictionary is a free offline English dictionary containing over 200,000 words and definitions and no ads. Dictionary is ideal for both native English speakers and English learners or people studying the English language. The dictionary definitions are stored locally, and because it's ad-free there's no need for a network connection. The home page contains a randomly selected word cloud which will pique your curiosity and help you improve your vocabulary, while the search box allows you to find specific words easily.

As you type, Dictionary homes in on the word you are looking for. Then you can follow the links in the definition page to get more word definitions. Wildcard characters can be used to help with word games like crosswords and scrabble where only some of the letters are known, or you have to find an anagram, or with spelling. Definitions include synonyms and antonyms which allows the dictionary to also serve as a thesaurus. The speech function helps provide the correct pronunciation.

Love the app! Simple-to-use and quite informative. Wide range of definitions. Response time is fast. Has voice and dark mode setting. And, here's a clincher. No ads! Doesn't use much memory. Wish it had examples of word usage in sentences. Explicit words are terminology could be expanded. Possibly, add pictures. But overall, I think it's a great dictionary app. You won't know unless you try it. Highly recommended!

This Dictionary looks simplified in comparison to other dictionaries, but don't. Lack of organizing the words. Adding other words makes it difficult the study and takes time to learn. There's no setting to hide it. Lack of example sentences and also not completed, which is a dependent clause. It uses a lot of words for explaining, which is difficult to understand or maybe unusable words for good communication in a certain situation.

I just want to say thank you to the developer of this dictionary app, providing it for free and without advertisement. The dictionary is simple to use, sleek, black and white by default, and with big font size. No distractions, only focusing on the English words. The quirky word suggestions (renewed every time you use it) are interesting too. This app deserves more.

A Google user

This is my favourite dictionary in the world. Originally available only on Windows Phone, finally ported to Android (2019). The UI is a bit glitchy and it isn't as pixel-perfect as the original, but the way this dictionary defines meaning & lists bespoke synonyms for each word is, in my book, unparalleled. I suggest using the dark theme & reducing the font size in settings. Note that this is just a beta version. The font colour in the word grid should contrast with the background more.

Very nice dictionary but lacks one basic thing a dictionary should have - PHONETICS for both British and American English. Please add phonetics and you really deserve 5 stars from everyone. Also the pronunciation - let there be options to choose for both British and American English, male or female person doing the pronunciation. Regards.

Works well, but the autocomplete can get frustrating. Also, i shouldn't have to click to get the cursor into the Look-Up field; app should open with cursor IN THERE, save me a few precious seconds and an extra click. Mostly, i like it tho'. Bumped it down to two stars bc the developer responded without taking time to read or comprehend the above.

Okay I don't review alot, but this one is special. Dictionary of windows was just great. This one is the closest so far, great work guys, but if you guys could take care of animation, I want that windows animation. 2.umm speech accent. Even if you guys don't wanna do it , it's fine because still it's great

(2020 installed) Amazing search options using wildcards. I use this app every day (& on my laptop). Excellent if you're not sure how to spell a word and for exploring possibilities (it can generate anagrams) when doing word puzzles. I use it heaps. No ads. (2024: still using it heaps. Excellent app.)
