before I can read it all and trying to prevent this by increasing font size crashes the app since update. The first book I had was Ok because the font size was bigger. The second one is unreadable. In any way that's enjoyable, at least. App layout and UI is good though, hence the second star.

Just discovered it doesn't work without internet!!!!?!? Couldn't read a book on the airplane! They ruined this app, and aren't even working hard to fix it. Still has unfixed simple issues - 1. Brightness is not based on system brightness. Now I have to fidget with the brightness slider in the app. 2. Turning pages with volume buttons is gone. This is a way different user experience for some. I feel betrayed, buying Kobo books forever to be stuck with this awful experience.

Last update changed the UI, but it ruined any functionality. - I can't play YT in the bacground anymore (it just stops / crashes YT) - It doesn't always save my last booknote - it crashes everytime i switch to another app like YT for a few seconds - it shows incorrectly the percentage of how much I've finished the book - the UI sometimes glitches visually The "Repair Your Account" option only sometimes works. Because of this, I'm probably not gonna buy another book.

The app used to be functional, but now, the app randomly closes out when you open a book or adjust font settings. My books don't sync between my devices anymore. Certain audiobooks just stop producing sound in the middle of chapters. If the app isn't closing itself out, I'm having to constantly restart it to get it to work. I had hoped this would be an alternative to Kindle, but it was short-lived. I've purchased my last audiobook with this app and won't be using it in the future.

App cannot be spanned on MS surface duo. Pages used to be blank but there was a work around. Now the app refuses to use columns, so you can't read the text as it's blocked by the gap in the screen. Checking the switch for columns in landscape mode does nothing. Somehow they made an already broken app worse. I'm honestly in awe of how bad this is. They also removed the page curl transition which while not a big deal was a nice feature. KOBO is the worst reading app. Shop elsewhere.

Lured to this app by an ebook deal, but dislike it. It doesn't sync across devices. Swiping to the next page frequently results in resizing your text instead. It ignores my 'do not rotate screen' phone setting, and takes forever to reorient itself. I can't leave it open and do other things, it gets upset and hides the text, I have to close and reopen the app. Text and color options are not ideal. No no-rotate option. No time display. Using on an Android phone. PC version is even worse!

If I wrote this review last month, I'd have given it 5 stars. That was before I tried to use it on an airplane. I very carefully downloaded several books, so I could read while in airplane mode. I was NOT expecting the app to completely refuse to start when it couldn't reach the internet. WHY???? I'm just lucky that I turned it off promptly after I got on the plane, so I could reconnect, start the app, and then read. Overall it works well, but this behavior is a deal breaker.

The newest update made a few changes that are a downgrade. One: the smallest text setting is larger than it was before. This isn't a huge deal, and I wouldn't have changed my review based on it. Two: the volume keys cannot be used to change the pages. This makes the app unusable for me and is a major disappointment because it's not the first time they've done this, even though they were one of the first to originally have it. There may be more changes, but I closed the app after this.
