AxCrypt is useless on an Android phone. It does not work. I recommend it be removed from the Play Store until they can fix this problem. It's a great program on Windows. Why have a program on the Play Store if you know it's not going to work. This is what you get when you attempt to open the program. UNEXPECTED ERROR An unexpected error "Object reference not set to an instance of an object' occurred. Go their Help Page and they tell you it won't work.

My original review was written on October 4, 2020, and an update is due. AxCrypt on PCs performs well as advertised. The team has added encryption and landscape rotation to the moble version. For the PC version alone, this app is worth the small yearly expense for kryptonite encryption. Currently, the mobile version has been rewritten due to Play Store requirements, and has some quirks. They're working on it, so 4.5 stars.

Whatever update you did broke everything. Get exception errors every time I try to open a file. Will have to cancel since it no longer works.

Desktop free version is great, and since I store all my encrypted files in OneDrive, I thought it would be handy to have this app in case I ever needed to open them when I am away from my PC. The website describes how you can only open and read encrypted files (but not create them) but it's does NOT tell you that you have to have a subscription for it to work at all. So this app was installed on my phone for just long enough to open it, learn about the subscription trick, and then uninstall it.

Edit: Updated to 4 stars. I contacted support and the response was almost immediate. They forwarded me a link and I was able to confirm my email address. The app does indeed look to work on my Galaxy S9+. I love the desktop version. The mobile app does not work at all. Instead of one star, it gets two, since I did get the warning that the mobile app was designed for an older version of Android. I could stall the app but the verification email never arrived. I wish I could utilize this software.

Update: I tried again recently, and apparently, you can now sign into the app without an internet connection. It must cache a hash of your password on device. Much better now. ----- PREVIOUS REVIEW----- No way to use offline. What if I need to decrypt without an internet connection on my mobile device? Please make a paid version of the app that doesn't require signing in just to decrypt.
