大甲鎮瀾宮每年農曆三月進行為期九天八夜的遶境進香活動。連續九年逢甲大學地理資訊系統研究中心、天眼全球衛星定位服務網接受大甲鎮瀾宮委託,利用GPS定位技術、結合準線科技的媽祖起駕即時影像傳輸等高科技,讓網友 24 小時不間斷的在網路上觀看媽祖遶境進香的盛況(http://mazu.skyeyes.tw/)。運用 GPS 衛星定位,即可在手機線上地圖中,完整忠實呈現「大甲媽祖鑾轎」目前即時位置,搭配活動過程中的即時回傳影像照片與民眾一同分享喜悅。
