تكون صلاةُ الاستخارة للزّواج بصلاة ركعتين؛ ويُسنّ أن يقرأ المستخير في الركعة الأولى بعد سورة الفاتحة سورةَ الكافرون، وفي الثّانية سورة الإخلاص، ثُمّ يدعو الله أن يختار له الخير أينما كان.
صلاة الاستخارة هي الصلاة التي تكون لحاجةٍ أو لأمرٍ دنيويّ، وأفضل الأوقات لأدائها هو وقت إجابة الدعاء في الثلث الأخير من الليل، لأن فضل الاستجابة في هذا الوقت ورد في السنة النبوية، حيث قال الرسول -صلى الله عليه وسلم-: (يَنْزِلُ رَبُّنَا تَبَارَكَ وتَعَالَى كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ إلى السَّمَاءِ الدُّنْيَا حِينَ يَبْقَى ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ الآخِرُ يقولُ: مَن يَدْعُونِي، فأسْتَجِيبَ له مَن يَسْأَلُنِي فَأُعْطِيَهُ، مَن يَسْتَغْفِرُنِي فأغْفِرَ له).
