The program sets a prepared board of a game in progress before walking the player through a prescribed set of moves. A player is allowed two mistakes before the program provides the answer. It provides hints after each mistake and a grade after each puzzle is completed. I run a few boards worth of puzzles and make sure to look for the 'aha' moment. It does not happen often, but it is a thrill when it does. Mostly I am happy when I remember the combination of moves without being corrected.

Very good, but it would be completely glorious if you made it so that there are visible graphic indications of possible variations in the form of arrows, like in DroidFish or some other apps. I'm actually dumbfounded how you could have missed this. The way it's now, it's completely impossible to follow some more complex openings. And some others, only to certain depth. The parenthesis and only three colors of font (although there are far more levels of branching) just don't cut it.

Is it just me or isn't a lot of this material 20+ years out of date if not just flat out wrong? They talk about long lines that no one ever plays as if they're the main lines and neglect to talk about the most played lines. There's a lot of info there and I'm sure some of it is useful but after finding enough of the opening advice provably wrong, I ran out of trust and if I need to be double checking every claim made against databases then I don't know what use it is

Even though this app labels itself as a chess opening it's really not. It's more of a tactics in the beginning of the game. How to notice weaknesses in the opponents opening and to exploit it. This is demonstrated through a bunch of classical games. What I'm looking for is an actual what are the best openings and what makes them great. For example, in the 5 -10 moves how have I positioned myself. This is not bad of an app so I will keep it. Will continue to look for another app as well.

Really good app. And, app can be moved to external SD memory. Forget about trying to follow grid coordinates. This is THE way to inprove you chess skills! Uses intelligent anamation feedback with every move! BUT, one glitch. After solution is found, the app automaticly displays the next position. So, I can not ponder on why it was the best solution. Add a "CONTINUE" button for 5 stars, ( which is included on the pro version.

This covers alot of what you will see in openings and you can get alot out of it, but it takes time to digest the vast amount it covers. Its been a great aid to my chess and developing my pieces in the right way. Highly recommmend!

Far from perfect. Difficult to use. The theoretical material is huge, but is badly organized. I thought it would look like a reference source, but it is unsuitable for that. Even Wikipedia is much better, more handy than this. Maybe good for puzzle-solving though.

I have noticed a significant improvement in my chess opening play, since using this app. I started at around 1100 rating and now my rating averages are btw 1700 and 1800 on this app. I must say that I do understand the game of Chess a lot better. This did not happen overnight I have been using this app for at least 2yrs. on a off and on basics.
