Android Auto is great, but sometimes you want Google Maps while listening to audio from an app that doesn't support Android Auto.

Unfortunately, there's a known issue with some vehicle's Android Auto implementation that causes Android Auto to resume the last Android Auto audio app you were listening to if you change the volume while listening to a non-Android Auto audio app such as YouTube.

Nothing's more distracting while driving than going from a soft podcast on YouTube to deafening music on Spotify in a fraction of a second.

Hush fixes this and other Android Auto audio-related issues by playing a silent audio track on repeat, leaving you free to safely adjust your vehicle's volume and enjoy your audio.

Once launched, Hush will act as the currently active audio app, preventing Spotify/YouTube music from being resumed by AA whilst you listen to your favourite non-Android Autoaudio app.

I developed Hush after putting up with this issue for years in my Toyota Camry. I've mentioned this issue to my Toyota dealer every time I get my car serviced, but they just say all updates have been installed and there's nothing they can do.

I'm so happy I found this from the clublexus forum. I want to cry. I was originally able to play audio by using the Sound Assistant app to tweak Android's settings to allow multiple audio sources to play at once, then I would just play a silent track on Spotify. That worked for a few months then randomly stopped working recently. This seems to do basically the same thing except way better because it automatically resumes.

Exactly what I needed. I like to play music from YouTube via Firefox, but couldn't adjust the volume with my car's volume buttons (because, like, why would they ever let you adjust the sound playing through your car's speakers if it's not a paid Google app?). Downloaded this, started it on Android Auto, and can now play music from my phone and (gasp) turn down the volume. Happy to pay $1 to a developer who understands users' needs.

I had to restart my phone before this appeared in Android auto. if it's not showing up, restart your phone. This is great and well worth the price. I have been searching for something like this and even resorted to asking Chet gpt for a solution. I just knew somebody must have invented an app for Android auto that would be a fake audio stream. here it is! Now I can turn the volume up and down for apps from my phone without Android auto hijacking the audio. kudos to the developer.

Incredible!!! This solves the MASSIVE issue with Toyotas where you can't control the volume on non Android-Auto apps as it essentially tricks the system into playing a silent track but other audio still works during that, for whatever reason. However, you can not pause the streaming audio from your car and if it disappears from recent (due to toggling between actual AA apps), you need to reinitialize the app to get volume control back. This seems like an AA and Toyota glitch, though.

Great solution to fix "Audio Paused" issue in Toyotas when running Android Auto and listening to audio in a non AA app. I like to watch videos when I'm sitting in my car on breaks and I was unable to change the volume unless I opened Spotify and played music and then went back to my video. Well worth the $1.50!

This app works perfectly for solving the issue I have with Android auto in my Toyota stock head unit. it stops the autoplay feature of your most recently used music app. when changing volume. this is helpful. when I try to watch something on YouTube and stops it from reverting back to my music app. it also doesn't pause my video when changing volumes.

A hidden gem, found out about this app on reddit, my toyota rav4 would always start playing another audio source when i adjusted the volume. This little app runs on the android auto infotainment system and gives a silent audio stream priority., while allowing normal use. The only change I'd like to see would be when an incoming notification sound pauses the audio it doesn't restart on its own now, maybe add an option to only allow resume current audio source.

Not being able to control YouTube volume was driving me nuts! With this app, just set it once and forget it. I think technically you could do the same thing with a silent Spotify playlist, but I find this more convenient. Worth every penny.
