Well, it's hard to judge Line from a western point of view : as it's often customary in Japan, there are so many options and functionalities... Which makes the app heavier and perhaps less intuitive than a western style app. People sometimes just want to text and send photos in two or three taps. But overall, it's a very good app in many regards.

Bloated app, locked phone number, advertisements everywhere, impossible to change ringtone, limited file size transfer and limited file time availability. I'm using it because everyone around me is using it and I am locked into that social ecosystem, otherwise I would have avoided it like the plague. Textbook example of enshittification service app, expect it to get worse.

Unable to Access Backup Data. I was forced to switch phones as my old one is not supported on my carrier's VoLTE network. I did a full backup of my old phone to the new one but on opening LINE it says there is no backup data for my account. I didn't want to continue signing in without my convo history so I tried to access LINE on my old phone, but I can't because it says its in use on another device, my only option being to delete all my data. Can't use the app at all as either way I lose data

Quite good except that I did loose all of my contacts during a system recovery. Also, I wish there was a way to DEACTIVATE VOOM! VOOM is totally useless to me and when a LINE VOOM notification does arrive it is always something that I am not interested in like MLB sports or something like that. Just let me turn it off, for goodness sakes! Also, I would like an easier way to add/buy stamps and emojis.

Got on this app around 2016 and have had a few different phones within that time. Have always been able to transfer my account using a phone number. I wa never notified that I would need an email on this to transfer my account to a different phone. Recently got a new phone and tried to transfer my account, but it won't let me as I don't have access to my old chats even though they are supposed to be backed up to my Google account. Trash app makes you lose friends.

Absolutely awful customer experience. Cannot log in to multiple phones at the same time, and trying to move data from one phone to another using the "Easy QR Code" just resulted in me immediately losing my entire data and history. There is no way to retry; you have to know to perform a full backup before trying. No warnings, no nothing, no retry. There should NEVER be a way for a user to lose all of their data just by following the steps in the program. Very pissed off.

Completely stopped working about 2 weeks ago. I couldn't send or receive messages. I tried clearing the cache, hard reset, did the update, nothing. Uninstalled then reinstalled, but it would not allow me to log in with my old account. I had to make a completely new one and lost years of chat history and all of my contacts. Thanks for nothing. Complete garbage app. It was great for years and now it's useless.

Terrible app. User hostile. Records and spies on all your communications. Randomly deletes everything, history contacts data purchases and all, without warning and without any way to restore. No support, no one to contact. Erases all history and locks you out if you use a new phone. Endless ads and spam. The absolute worst messaging app there is. edit: keeps getting even worse. edit2: and even worse. Loathsome app, evil company
